I regret that you feel this way. If you wish to add "balance" please do so. From reading this board for a long time, it seems to me that all sorts of dissenting opinions are present, all sorts of issues grappled with. There is some dark humor at times, but possibly you don't understand what these people have been through. Only profanity and personal attacks seem to get removed, so balance away.

Trollus Detectus in Extremis will probably roll out the Troll-O-Meter to check your vital signs, but I don't think it's going to show a blip.

There are plenty of positive things here. (Check out the rather passionate things said about the USM Nursing program.) You just have to read the threads & if you see a really mean post, read on to see what the overall reaction is.

As far as "balance," this board descended from one called "Fire Shelby." I don't think there ever was any "balance" implied by the goals of that site. The majority of folks who post regularly here believe that USM would be far, far better off if Shelby Thames did something else for a living.

The thing I think most people "hate" here is what Thames has managed to do to USM in his short "tenure" as president & how the trustees have done little to prevent it.

Please allow us to point out the following:

Wanton Capitolization is a genetic brain-deficiency suffered by certain trolls with the audacity to post on this honorable board, causing them to capitalize large portions of their scandelous posts in the hope that this will make them appear intelligent. While it is usually not life threatening, this disorder can lead to Wanton Mathematical Mistakes, causing bank accounts to shrink and suicide notes to be written.

Wanton Capitalism is an extremely serious mental condition suffered by reformed Communists & Socialists and a certain Gnome in the Dome, causing them to set aside all other issues and considerations (including sex) in an obsessive attempt to maximize the financial efficiency of all areas of their lives, careers, and/or business interests. Intensive psychiatric therapy is required immediately upon diagnosis in order to prevent this dangerous condition from totally destroying the mind of the poor patient. Those not recieving therapy will suffer from ever-increasing delusions of wealth and granduer, eventually leading to death from excess materialism.

Won Ton Capitalism -- where posters who post a lot get a little silly with words and want to make references to terms such as the one entered as the first 3 words of the post. Others, don't take the high ground. Humor is our best medicine.
