USM search committee to meet today

"The Southern Miss Presidential Search Advisory Committee is expected to convene on campus today for the first time for an orientation, during which the 25 members - faculty, staff, students, alumni and administrators - will meet with search consultant Jan Greenwood and Higher Education Commissioner Tom Meredith to discuss the search.

 Members, who were nominated by their colleagues, also will sign a contract requiring adherence to a code of ethics for the search, including strict confidentiality of prospects and candidates' identities."  ...

"Faculty Senate President Myron Henry, one of the committee members, said the group is strong and diverse from a faculty perspective.

Each (of Southern Miss' five academic) colleges is represented, and other faculty represented have other reasons for being there" - leadership positions in faculty-wide organizations like Academic Council and the Southern Miss chapter of the American Association of University Professors, Henry said."
