"The search for a new president is upon us. Whoever is selected has a lot of work to do. The University of Southern Mississippi used to be a top-tier liberal arts school. Actions taken under Thames administration have reduced us to a fourth-tier university that almost lost its accreditation. We had nationally recognized top 50 programs, now we are not ranked. It was a vain attempt to be the MIT of the South, now it's time to move on and return to our former glory."
