BOARD SEARCH COMMITTEE TO MEET WITH SOUTHERN MISS CONSTITUENCY GROUPS

The Board Search Committee for the next president of the University of Southern Mississippi, chaired by Trustee Robin Robinson, along with Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Thomas C. Meredith and executive search consultant Dr. Jan Greenwood of Greenwood & Associates, Inc., will meet with various Southern Miss constituency groups on Thursday, November 9, 2006, beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the Thad Cochran Center on the University of Southern Mississippi campus, 121 West Memorial Drive, Hattiesburg, MS, 39406, to hear what qualities the Southern Miss community is looking for in their next university president. These qualities will be used to draft the profile and job description for the position of president at Southern Miss. Members of the Southern Miss Board Search Committee include Committee Chair and Trustee Robin Robinson of Laurel; Trustee Ed Blakeslee of Gulfport; Trustee Virginia Shanteau Newton of Gulfport; Trustee Bob Owens of Jackson; and Trustee Scott Ross of West Point. All meetings are open to the media. The schedule, subject to change, is as follows:

7:30-8:15 a.m.:  Breakfast with Vice Presidents; Presidential Suite, Thad Cochran Center

8:20-8:50 a.m.:  Listening session with Southern Miss Deans; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

8:50-9:20 a.m.:  Listening session with Southern Miss Athletics; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

9:20-10:05 a.m.:  Listening session with Southern Miss Academic Council, Graduate Council, Council of Chairs, University Libraries, and Gulf Coast Research Lab; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

10:10-10:55 a.m.: Listening session with Southern Miss Faculty and Staff; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

2:00-2:45 p.m.: Listening session with Southern Miss Faculty Senate, Gulf Coast Faculty Council, Staff Council, and American Association of University Professors; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

2:45-3:25 p.m.: Listening session with Southern Miss Undergraduate and Graduate Student Leaders; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

3:25-3:55 p.m.: Listening session with Southern Miss Foundation and the Mayor of Hattiesburg; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218

3:55-4:25 p.m.: Listening session with Southern Miss Alumni Association; Thad Cochran Center, Room 218
