This board is not about John Kerry or the presidential elections or even liberal vs. conservative ideology.  This board is dedicated to discussing the situation at USM.  If you don't have more constructive comments to add to the discussion, then I suggest you find another message board community with which to discuss your political views (perhaps they will appreciate your wanton capitalization and bold formatting, too).

Am I to understand that living in Hattiesburg causes one to ignore the changes which have taken place since the early 1950's? Just where does one have to live in order to take note of those changes? New York? Chicago? I have lived and worked in both of those places, Buster, and I found many residents there no more enlightened than those that live in Hot Coffee, Mississippi. Some of my New York students there hadn't even been more more than 50 miles away from the the Bronx in their entire life.

Useless.

Obviously you'd rather shift the subject rather than debate the many cogent rebuttals the other folks writing here have offered. Too bad you seem to only know how to use  the anoymity of the board the abuse its users, rather than to engage in a genuine discussion.

This Board and FS have always honored those who honestly disagree and state thei disagreements openly and with sincerity. You sir  or madame, prove yourself capable of neither.

And thus prove yourself to be unworthy of further attention.

Well, that was both mature and helpful.  I am sure you've changed a lot of minds.

M. Shift--

I choose to believe that the clause set off by commas was inadvertent.  Or maybe you meant . . . but he never paid any attention. . .."

It's been my experience that those who pay no attention are pretty evenly distributed throughout the population.  My wife would occasionally number me among them.

I have frequently thought that Judd's posts on Fire Shelby and this board should be compiled into a book. It could be titled, "inspirational readings for beleagured academics." (I think I just spelleds beleagured wrong . . .)

In any case, those of you who are writing books about this mess should consider a "Judd" appendix (right after the "Hollandsworth" appendix).
