...The search for replacement leaders to head our colleges and universities should not take place behind closed doors. What a waste of time and money to conduct any kind of search to replace Dr. Shelby Thames at the University of Southern Mississippi! He should receive a lifetime appointment to lead the university as long as he wishes to serve....

...the best of the best is now president of USM...

Sure, let's give the guy a few more years. He's only had time to run off half the faculty. He's only presided over one SACS academic probation. Let's go for two. Enrollment in Hattiesburg has only been falling for three years. Why not try for five? Hey, we haven't hit bottom yet. Why not go for it?
