Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. You got $400.00. Mississippi State got $1200.00. And with all of that economic development money at USM! Maybe its not what you ask for, its who you ask. Mississippi State must have asked the right person.
Minimum raises are not really the issue. It appears that USM faculty and staff received an average raise of 4% plus the $400 across the board supplement. How does the overall percentage compare to the other state universities. If we are well ahead of the other universities perhaps we need to send "the administration" a thank-you and think about jumping on the "Go Gold" bandwagon. If our raises were about the same as other state supported universities then all the talk of how much better we are doing with tighter financial controls and efficient management doesn't seem as credible. If our raises were smaller as a percentage of total payroll then ...

The problem is nobody seems to know nothing. Very secretive place. Did they pass out horse blinders to the faculty and staff at orientation? Or a paper sack to be placed over the head.
