Vic, on the advice of my security guru (my son) I installed Mozilla's Firebox as a trial browser. When I access this board, it doesn't want to mark the threads which I've already read. Know anything about this problem? I thought you used Mozilla. I noticed on IE that even with my Google toolbar set to block pop-ups, I was getting more and more of them. So far so good with Firefox, no pop-ups, just this little problem with the AAUP board.
Hmmm... Firefox isn't marking your "read-threads"?
Question: Do you use the "AAUP-USM MESSAGE BOARD" link at the top to return to the main listing after viewing a thread, or do you hit the "Back" button?
I've found that Mozilla will "back" to exactly what you left (including visited links vs non-visited links). Other than that I dunno.
You may have something to report to Bugzilla at mozilla.org. Once a bug report has been filed, the open source elves at mozilla.org will go hawg wild.
The pop-up blocking system in Firefox/Mozilla is one of the best features. Instead of blocking pop-ups if you tell it to do so, Firefox/Mozilla blocks them unless you tell it not to.
Tabbed browsing is another very cool feature, but I really can't explain it to IE users. You have to experience it to understand it.
Aha! Invictus, you're a genius. It does matter if you use the "back" button rather than clicking the "message board" text. That explains a couple of other situations too. Thanks for your help!
