“…one or more members of the faculty covet the office of president for themselves and are attempting to undermine some good decisions for potential personal gain.”
I am afraid this goes far beyond one or more faculty. I am also incredulous that anyone currently employed here would want to be president now. Some might be challenged by the prospects of cleaning up a mess, but I would think most would be discouraged from coming in here to clean up this large-scale mess. I also doubt very much that the IHL will appoint someone from the current faculty ranks after all that has happened.
What do you think the chances are that the next president will come from outside Mississippi?

This could be a very very good thing, if it were the right person. But honestly, I don't think Roy Klumb is smart enough to realize that academia is larger than Mississippi. (My apologies for having spent the last two or three days saying people aren't smart, on various threads . . .but I'm throwing up my hands here. The alternative is to talk about how evil they are, and my mama won't let me do that.)

Given the choice between having someone "dumb" vs. "corrupt" in charge, I'd go the dumb route anyday. Those are the two choices often available in politics.

Of course, the choice is often "dumb" and "corrupt" rather than "dumb" vs. "corrupt"...
I don't think the next president will come from outside Mississippi as long as the IHL board feels beholden to their political handlers. The next presidency of USM will go to the person who pays the most for it, just like this time. The sad thing is that the presidency sold so cheap.
