Southern Miss University Libraries to Hold Used Book Sale to Assist Coast Libraries
Hattiesburg -- To aid in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina, University Libraries at the University of Southern Mississippi will sponsor a used book sale Monday, Sept. 18 – Friday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The proceeds from the sale will go to assist public libraries on the Mississippi Gulf Coast as they continue to recover from Hurricane Katrina. Many of the public libraries are still in limited facilities and have no storage space for book donations. The Friends of Long Beach Public Library are kindly requesting monetary donations instead of book donations at this point.
More than 3,000 used books for readers of all ages and interests have been donated for this effort. Prices will range from 50 cents to $2 for the general used books, and up to $5 for some special contributions. To donate books for the sale, bring contributions to the Cook Library Circulation Desk and specify they be used for the hurricane relief book sale.
