1. More word coming out now that the PUC will take a back seat with SFT & Co. Now, serving on the body may be more of a hindrance than a benefit for faculty/staff not closely aligned with the boys. Thanks ntsft.
2. There are more tales that Economic Development will move into the COAL. This possibility raises some interesting new scenarios. According artsy and gorod, if the move of ED happens, and Pood ascends to Provost with TH's departure, the leading candidates for the new Dean of COAL (in terms of in-house people) become KM and DVH. With KM at the helm, SFT feels he can get "alot done" in his favorite college.
3. More and more stories are leaking that Tim R. is the nightmare on elm street. As we've reported before, staff turnover there resembles that of a McDonald's. Word from grapevine (and the USM website) is that Ryan & Co will claim to have reached $100 this fall (in terms of the capital campaign).
4. More stories about another mid year raise this January to "friends" that will be a good bit more significant (on a per-person basis) than the current one. It would, according to grapevine, be give over Christmas holidays and would come of the heels of a big announcment about the capital campaign (see #3 above) and could be overshadowed by "December problems" with Bower & Co. Thanks grapevine, gorod and mclubber.
5. New stories out now that Larry E. has been promised the sun and the moon for victories (and some semblence of longevity). He's been stockpiling talent (if it qualifies) and has an amenable schedule to perhaps provide some quick wins. The trouble comes if it all goes south. Thanks baller.

The USM Foundation under Tim Ryan's "Saddamesque" view of 'leadership' has raised a miniscule amount of money in the last two years. The only way that he could claim that the USM Foundation made the $100,000,000 is if he also rolled in the imaginary money brought in by the Research Foundation. Under valid accounting guidelines, this can not be counted, as it (the research foundation) has no current value, other than the $1 million in cash assets that have been mentioned. The rest of the value is pure smoke and mirrors.
But of course, the goal will be proclaimed as having been met and no one will have to give any money. Neat trick and all lies. If the CASE standards committee ever audits our books, we will probably be black-listed by that national organization. As it would be a false representation, I wonder if the Federal Government would be interested in the false accounting practices? Does the FBI investigate this type of crime? What about Phil Bryant? Does he want to run for governor when it is discovered that a major accounting scandle occurred on his watch?
Things to think about if you are Tim. Maybe Martha can give him some advise on how to improve your image in stripes? SFT will gladly feed him to the dogs rather than take a hit himself.

Larry E will definitely get some wins and recruit good players. However, once his reputation has been rehabilitated there's no chance that he'll remain in a minor athletic conference. A Jeff Bower (in terms of loyalty to USM) Larry E will never be.
