1. With today's D-sec article in the HA, it looks like MSU is gearing up for a big move in the econ development game.  grapevine suggested this move to us a few weeks ago actually.  Looks like a new player in town.

2. ladysader reports further news that WCC recruitment efforts are still going well.  crusader also sends word that the WCC admin is now working on a plan to raise private $s in order to try and lure 1 or maybe even 2 bigger names from the USM faculty next year.  That would be a real coup for them.  Word is that some $s may soon be coming from the medical community.  Thanks ladysader and crusader.

3. Stories are gaining legs now that TH might make one more "push" for the USM presidency, and by leaking some "big SFT dirt" up in Jackson.  Thanks gorod.  ntsft reports that such a move might not accomplish anything, and would only be an ugly ordeal.

4. rumors are swirling that some college(s) have announced merit raise recipients, while others are (apparently) "sitting on the information."  Thanks artsy.  ntsft indicates that SFT & Co have jokingly remarked how some faculty must be "anxious" about not having a contract yet.

5. News of non-qualifiers on the Larry E. club is trickling in now.  If this becomes commonplace, it would represent a sea change in that department.  Much appreciated baller.

6. compaq reports now that the dress code policy in the CBED may be off again.  Thanks compaq.  We'll wait and see.

7. Sources close to Bobby C. have told insider that Mr. C. does not endorse/agree with the recent construction reports in the HA recently, and that the 'burg should expect to hear from him soon.  Thanks insider (welcome back to the mill).

8. grapevine sends word that the Starbucks debut may be delayed, if it occurs at all.  Seems they understand the new lay of the land, and are less than enthusiastic now.  Thanks grapevine.
