1. Rumors are flying around everywhere about TH's departure (to somewhere). grapevine and gorod both indicate that "something seems to be going on," but neither has anything beyond that to report yet.
2. More and more merit raisees' names are slipping out. Everyone seems to be on pins/needles waiting for the word to hit the street.
3. Word from ntsft that the new "President's Message" may soon supercede the PUC. It seems the new message idea trumps any lingering benefit of meeting with people. Sometime this fall the "transition" should be complete.
4. Stories are gaining legs that some auxilliary units are "near disaster territory" in terms of funding/staffing (i.e., manpower). This fall or spring the whole ship could grind to a halt (as grapevine put it).
5. baller sent a teaser to me today suggesting that new news on Larry E. is on the horizon. Can't wait.
The Gulf Coast - as far any units of the CEP are concerned - are all but dead. Some faculty members never got annual evaluations - although they actually sought them out to be conducted. One particular chair in the Burg never responded. Where does it leave those people at the Coast? I guess trying to find other jobs pretty quickly.
i hear th is going by the end of the year, with job or without. part of the executive session the IHL had with ST where people assumed it focused on the kentucky group also dealt with th. apparently a college board member blew the whistle on th.

I find this difficult to believe. On the other hand, it is getting to the point where I am inclined to believe even outrageous accounts such as this. Surely the dean's office, if not the chair, would respond to something this important.

I can believe this. Since everything is decided by cronyism, why should anyone bother with annual evaluations? Also, if you don't do them, there's no evidence when someone files under the FOIA.

It is completely true. And, if you think about it hard enough -- you'll understand why no one can speak out about it.

Is there no appeals process governing such matters?

If you've got no viable faculty handbook, you've got nothing. Reading this particular thread makes me feel like I'm living in an Alice in Wonderland world. Expecting to see a rabbit around the corner any minute. Surely you speak for a very small minority, right?

Fear keeps most of us silent. There are several lawsuits pending that address the administration not following the FH. And, yes, in order for due process to be followed, the FH has a lot to do with faculty contracts. This administration believes in ignoring the rules and playing by whatever set happens to personally benefit them. Is it right? No. Is it practiced? Yes. The small minority is no longer that since these actions makes that group larger and larger all the time. Where is the student in all of this? They're down the rabbit hole too. That's what makes it particularly sickening.
Then I suggest we all line up behind someone like Depree who is tough enough and has the resources to help fight this battle. Enough of the bow wow buckshot stuff from some jerk he has a personal axe to grind.

I had hoped that such flagrant disregard for the established and customary standards had ended, rucker. Evidently, judging from what you and others write, that does not appear to be the case. Frankly, I fail to understand why faculty members tolerated such practices for so mamy years. These sorts of things are not of recent origin, you know.

This is true. Some units are running on near empty, and unless things change, things will be even worse by the end of the year.

Invictus was a mid-70s graduate. And a late-70s grad. And a mid-80s grad. Invictus now wonders what was going thru his mind (or as they say on EagleTalk, his "brain cell").

Is that the "brain cell" that everyone shares over on ET?
