1. Indications now are good that the merit raise information may not arrive until late Friday afternoon, if at all this week. The mill is now looking for an announcement for sometime next week. Thanks gorod. 2. There is some confirmation now that RG's crib is indeed for sale. What does this mean? We aren't sure (looking into it) but it does lend some support for the idea that he's flying the coop. Thanks mclubber. 3. Word from artsy is that some are awaiting news of the merit raise issue before responding to outstanding job offers from other, in-state institutions. 4. envelope's package doesn't bode well for HD over in the CBED. By the looks of it, faculty there are upset with this year's annual review process in the college, and one is taking action. The indictment suggests that the "FOIA hero" of many at USM (i.e., HD) is now running from these very same requests. Thanks envelope. 5. Indications from baller are that some of the summer sports camps came in well below past years in terms of receipts. These revenue streams are important sources of income for many of USM's coaches (thanks baller), so the current controversy appears to be having some interesting consequences. Thanks again baller.
This rumor absurd. I have seen the "package" -- Dr. Depree sent the information to a long list of faculty members. There is no legal problem. Instead, a single faculty member got is wife to write a letter to one of the university's law firms. A single faculty member filed a FOIA request and mostly wanted either old information or information that was publicly available in the library.

Is this Chauncey Mark Depree, AKA the 'pistol-packing prof'? The same perpetual professionial malcontent, who mail-bombs in both electronic and postal formats?

Hey stamp, another e-mail was just sent out. Things are heating up. Get your popcorn and coke, and go ahead and go to the bathroom now, else you'll miss something.
In case anyone has forgotten, this is the guy who took on the whole Hattiesburg power structure and won. While HD and company try to hide everything, Depree does everything out in the open. Unlike HD and company, I don't know anybody who ever caught Depree lying.
If you're wondering I'm not Depree, I'm just on his mailing list. My opinion is it's time somebody who has the resources took CBED to task.

You are right, Invictus, the handle CBEDcolonoscopy takes the cake. Much like what is going on at USM: The liquid one drinks before the procedure tastes awful, one is kept in the dark during the procedure, and paying the bill afterwards is very painful.

Beyond your advanced years, clear lack of sense, and obvious love of being sued, you still have no common sense or administrative skills. It is truly amazing that natural selection has not claimed you, oldtimer.
Dr. D is one of the good guys. We should only have more profs like him.

Here's an excerpt of Depree's lawyer's latest communique to Doty's lawyer's assistant....
Thank you for calling concerning Dr. DePree’s Open Records Act Request. As I told you, given my experience with the College of Business and Economic Development (CBED), I anticipate that you and I will continue to see substantial efforts to stonewall and avoid providing information to which Dr. DePree is entitled.
While I understand your optimism in believing there is a meaningful search occurring at CBED, you should be aware that shortly after we talked, I was advised that no search is actually being conducted. A person who is allegedly conducting the search has been told to agree to look, but do nothing. While you may view this as little more than gossip, it is not. You may want to follow up and find out what specifically is occurring in terms of a search. I believe the bottom line is this, unless your firm or mine conducts the search for records, I have every confidence that nothing will be done – except you will be told that a search is ongoing and in good faith you will pass that information on to me and nothing will be accomplished. However, as I think you understand from our discussion, that is an unacceptable situation which will not be allowed to continue for very long.
The white hat Dr. Depree sometimes wears is more than a metaphor. He does what he believes is right. All the name calling in the world won't stop him for doing the right thing as he sees it.

Oldtimer, I might be a malcontent too if people I worked with went to the IHL to fix questions I asked about the evaluation and pay system. A lot of us have had those questions about the merit raises around the university. I don't know if you saw the handwritten note from one of the CBED accounting instructors that said Carl [Nicholson] had taken care of Depree's questions. Somehow, I don't think Carl had the IHL look into the facts. The note and the letter from the so-called "malcontent" was discussed in an earlier thread and it wasn't anything for the author or the people mentioned in the note to be proud of.
CBED is a wasteland. We should not be hassling someone who is trying to make it better.

That there puppy was tryin' to git me. Had to shoot it - what would you have done?
Had to send email and snail mail to everyone in town and on campus too, because I knew the whole town was concerned about me. Luckily, that there puppy didn't have all its teeth in yet. I might of shot a couple of baby teeth out in the process, but they grow back.
I am doin' just fine, thanks. Haven't shot anything higher than a skunk for weeks now.
Thanks to all my supportahs out theyah, in Depree-land. Gotta set things right, over and over again, dontcha know?
Care to git on my email list? Wraht me! Yurz, Depree.
I see all the humor in the thread, but I suspect that at this point HD is wishing he could click his heels and get back to Syracuse somehow. He is neck deep in numerous problems in Hattiesburg. Perhaps he needs the "life coach."
