Housing changes in works at USM

...Raj Menon, 31, a doctoral student in the biochemistry program, is skeptical about the construction and what it portends for the future of family housing on campus.

"Really, I'm not a big fan," he said. "You can't expect a husband and wife to live in the dorms."

Menon, who has lived in Pine Haven for four years, said he fears the new buildings may mean eventual demolition for the remaining units sometime the future.

"Money and power is everything," said Menon, who lives in one of the 170 remaining units. "That's the sad fact of the world."...

    It'll be torn down next summer, she said, to make way for a law school building.
