"God continues to bless our college and the school of business with outstanding resources and Christian personnel,"
This PR piece is bragging on getting a small bit of technology that has been standard fare since the 1990s? God has blessed them with PR folks who can really stretch a tale.
You're crazy if you don't think that WCU's b-school just pulled a huge coup. Their tech-classroom to total classroom ratio is probably now higher than USM's b-school's ratio. Also, notice who paid for these technology upgrades: First Bank and Regions Bank, two of USM's b-school's biggest donors. For some time now, local business people have been telling me that they're displeased with the current direction USM's b-school is taking. WCU is simply capitalizing on USM's failure.
As good young faculty continue to leave USM's b-school, the quality of USM's b-school education will continue to fall. As WCU adds better facilities and faculty, the quality of the WCU b-school education will rise. Unless some action is taken quickly, "Mississippi's Business School" won't even be "Hattiesburg's Business School".
