Does this bother anyone else? Seems like SFT can pull the "citizens (read: common man)" into the fray when it's all about athletics. What about getting the "citizens" to lobby for more $$ for faculty and staff?

Maybe if you could get Joe Parker to stop calling them names, they would.

The HA article says "The money would go toward upgrading several athletic facilities, including a new tennis facility, completion of the softball complex and some renovation to M.M. Roberts Stadium, such as upgrading the concession areas and restrooms." Didn't I read that USM has abolished its golf course? And now it wants money for tennis and softball? That sounds like a child deliberately breaking a toy and then crying until somebody provides another toy. And they want me to pay for this out of my own pocketbook when I go to a Hattiesburg restaurant? Absurd.

They want to pay for upgrading the restrooms at M.M. Roberts Stadium by imposing a surcharge on meals I purchase at local restaurants? Any such surcharge they impose on my meal purchases should go toward upgrading the restrooms at some of those restaurants.
I almost hate to use the phrase, but what does the man/woman on the street think? The folks I've talked to in H'burg are against it, but my sample was small. Are there really enough people willing to "donate" money to USM this way?

I sure the h*ll hope not.....on the other hand, if there were, I would want them to donate it to USM earmarked for faculty & staff raises (across the board, not merit)!
