1. The mill goes on location tonight.  Sources are coming to believe that any raise this year will be minimal, if at all.  It seems that with Kazelskis1 and Kazelskis2, Dana, Gaudet, Annulis and others getting the MIDAS money, along with those getting the raises in January of this year plus the recent Noetics deal, those with SFT & Co. have been "topped off" for at least a little while.  Expect most of the raise money to go to administrators.  Thanks ntsft.


2. Can confirm something else from being out on the town tonight with the mill.  The whole MIDAS story is not playing well in the community.  Hearing that faculty are getting checks for $20,000 does not go over very smoothly on Hardy Street.

Today's HA article said that $382,223 was spread among 33 USM faculty members. That averages $11,582.51 per faculty member. When the ordinary reader sees those figures, they are likely to ignore the number 33 and note only the dollar figure. There are many perons in the Pine Belt who don't make much more than $11,582.11 annually. No wonder some of them believe faculty members are overpaid. That sort of publicity will do you no good from a community perspective.  It may be something your president can take to the college board and rave about, but it will not help generate community support


You can bet your cap and gown that that the MIDAS story most definitely does not play well with Little Sister.

I can't imagine it plays well with the man/woman on the street to hear that faculty are getting more money to NOT teach. Wonder how the "Shut up and teach" crowd will respond to that?
