Actually I don't care for SFT much more than the rest of you. But, unlike the rest of you I can see that SFT isn't the only problem we have on campus.

I am so mad at you Truth...the rest of us might as well hang it up now because you CLEARLY are going to get Mr. Wonderful's more prestigious Quote of the Week to be presented on the 4th of July.

That would make my holiday weekend! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Dammit, Seeker, I thought you were going to Virginia! And for a while there you actually contributed to this board with some rational, well-thought-out (albeit with horrendous spelling) posts. And then you come back with all of your "share the blame" crap. PLEASE go to Virginia now and aggravate the good people up there, you schmuck!

I do not believe Seeker has returned. The posting to which you refer was done prior to the time that Seeker announced he/she was shutting down the computer and waiting for the long distance mover.
Much of this discussion about the love or hate of USM, or even indifference, is not the issue. One only needs to look at the number of bad marriages or relationships to see where love or hate can lead. A university becomes good or bad based on sound academic and management practices. Prior to SFT, USM had problems with too many programs, too little faculty and dead wood faculty. Very similar to all universities. Nonetheless, USM was progressing slowly and steadily toward being a better University each year. It was done with leadership and shared vision. Leaders are out in front leading not driving and denigrating faculty. Our military is the best because Lts. lead troups,. they do not drive them. The problem with seeker is he/she/it wants to talk about where to put blame rather than how to repair the damage. SFT cannot rehabilitate USM. Indeed, you could give him control of Harvard and he would ruin if if the faculty were as powerless as they have become at USM. The quality of a university = the quality of its faculty. Seeker and SFT could not keep good faculty given their views of faculty and their concept of how faculty SHOULD be. The exodus of good faculty and some not so good faculty will continue, and their replacements will be of lower quality. It will take a decade or more to restore us to where we were when SFT took over.

I had never thought of things this way before, but does anyone doubt that this is true?
