Sorry my link doesn't seem to be active. You can also go to the HA home page and the article is under the Southern Miss section. The article is titled "Dvorak takes research position"

From the HA today.

"Embattled University of Southern Mississippi vice president Angie Dvorak will become full-time president of the university's research foundation July 1, USM officials were to announce today.

Long-time Southern Miss professor Cecil Burge will assume Dvorak's duties as vice president of research and economic development."

Cecil Burge is a good guy.  He has been at USM and served loyally under Yarbrough, Cotten, et al as Asst VP for Research.  I am glad his day has come!

Ditto on Cecil Burge.  I've also worked with him and he's a good guy.

And all I can say about AD is....

DING, DONG, THE WITCH IS....DISEMPOWERED!!!

Or as The Donald would say:

KENTUCKY CABAL, YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!

This is a HUGE victory for everyone who has worked so hard to bring academic credibility back to USM.  EVERYONE on this board deserves a huge round of applause for keeping up the heat on SFT.  This wouldn't have happened without everyone's participation.  I'm proud to be a part of this community.

Chess, 3 down...who's next???

I'm very glad to see AGD out of the VP for Research position, of course; and I don't know much about Burge except that he has indeed been here a long time.

But am I not right that this also gives AGD a lot of even less supervised power? Is this "university research foundation" not a private foundation, not publicly funded, and therefore not subject to some of the oversight that would normally attend university affairs?

Perhaps I'm ignorant about this particular foundation . . . any thought from those more knowledgable on this point?

Whatever the negative aspects of this, I certainly join Truth4USM in celebrating AGD's departure from a job for which she was manifestly unqualified and in which she wreaked considerable havoc.

And let's just pause here for a moment, and once again thank our courageous colleagues, Gary Stringer and Frank Glamser, for all that they've sacrificed for us. There is no question that none of this--the departures of Hanbury and M. Dvorak, and the removal of AGD from the VP post, not to mention the apparent restraint being exercised on Thames--if Gary and Frank had not bravely pursued the Dvorak investigation.

NO QUARTER.

Question: Who was over the Research Foundation before AD took this position.

Answer: AD was over the Research Foundation. In other words, Same Pay for Less Work. EFFICIENCY is the name of the game.

Restricting Mrs. Dr. Dr. Dvorak to running the Research Foundation markedly reduces her power.  But while she can no longer tyrannize over faculty, she is still in a position of authority at USM and still able to carry out dirty deals.

Either Shelby has a lingering attachment to AGD or he is afraid of what she would reveal about his administration if he fired her.  This move came after his attempts to send her to the ADP failed.

"lingering attachment"--I like that, Robert!

And thanks to several for the better understanding of the research foundation thing. Ah, yes. Efficiency.

All he wants is a day's work for a day's pay.

NO QUARTER.
