"After carefully reviewing the facts and circumstances related to the pardon request for Mr. Clyde Kennard, a favorable recommendation could not be made to Gov. Haley Barbour," Parole Board Chairman Glenn Hamilton said. "It is the opinion of the Mississippi State Parole Board that a more appropriate and satisfying remedy may be available to exonerate the name of Mr. Clyde Kennard."
But research into state law and a February decision from the Mississippi Supreme Court indicates there are no such legal avenues, said Steven Drizin of the Northwestern University Center on Wrongful Convictions, who prepared the petition."
