I am in the field and it is difficult to get to a computer.
The question about a possible move of Economic Development to CoAL would not affect anything in the Academic Council because the program is strictly graduate. However, the Graduate Council might need to get involved at some point.
Regardless, the problem, apparently, is the fact that many of the "faculty" have no graduate degrees in economic development. That will affect accreditation in any college.
I have heard no official news regarding the move, I might add, but again, I am in the field.
i have heard more details about a proposed move to COAL but it's a little more complicated than simply moving a program lock-stock-and-barrell to COAL. It involves making it a more broadly based international affairs graduate program. i have my doubts about whether it work given current faculty in the economic development program. they are hesitant to work with people in other programs. didn't want to work with people in economics because they would challenge their students too much.
