Here's a question for Guru, and anyone else in the know. Is there anything new concerning the recent Thames attempt to rid himself of Mrs. Dr.Dr. Dvorak? I pose the question because of comments related to me by a "well connected" Hattiesburg businessman. He claims AD has made it abundantly clear that she has no intention of going gently, unless to a position of equivalent prestige and compensation, that is, to a position she could represent as an upward career move. Apparently that's the rub, as there aren't many non-USM positions in Hattiesburg (controlled by Thames) that meet her criteria. I understand this has become a very dicey situation for the prez, and he's really scrambling for a solution.
I'm naive on this matter, but does AD have a contract? If so, what are the terms? Is it possible to just let it lapse and not rehire her? Or does she know where the bodies are buried, hence keeping her employed? What would be the response in the community if her contract was renewed by SFT? Does anyone know what the actual terms of her employment are?

No. But you can bet that AD has SFT bent over a barrel because she knows nearly everything that has happened under Thames: the illegal stuff, the misappropriation of funds, her involvement in the email monitoring, and on and on. SFT has no choice but to treat her like royalty or he will go down with her.

Why of course she could go work for them...as Office Manager, paralegal assistant, or even Vice-President for Research and Economic Development, but not as an attorney. First she'd have to pass the Mississippi bar, as will her hubby.

I don't know the terms of her contract, but I suspect it has multi-year buy-out clauses that we don't typically see in the contracts of faculty or line administrators.
Those clauses mean nothing if she is in a material breach of contract, which is what might be the case if her vita contained bogus information.
USM OWES ANGIE DVORAK NOTHING.
If SFT owes her anything or needs to buy her silence, that's his problem & not the responsibility of the taxpayers of Mississippi.

I heard a local attorney mention that the new firm will officially open for business the first of July. She said the office will be on Hardy Street across from the Gold Post, I think.
What is interesting is that, on the old FS board there was a lot of comment about ST's power over the ADP, and some speculation that the new head of the ADP was in his back pocket.

Perhaps the stench emanating from the dome finally became too much, even for the ADP.
I'm curious about the recent maneuvering by Thames. Would he have made his pitch to the ADP concerning AD's "transfer," without having first secured her approval? I think not.
What's clear is that Shelby is beginning to look like a sissy who can't control the women he has hired. He needs to prove he's a red-blooded American male by firing her outright. He's got more reason to fire her than he did for firing Stringer & Glamser. Or maybe the women he's surrounded himself with have taken a huge toll on his testosterone levels. Come on, Shebby, be a man.Show them who's boss in the dome.
