1. Many are following the accreditation troubles in both the CBED and CEP, wondering how much (more) damage will be done by losses of those 2 stamps of approval.  However, we are hearing that the first "accrediting agency" to hit the campus running and produce some problematic paperwork may be the NCAA.  We have reported on this before, and the stories are growing louder day-by-day.  We will try to stay abreast as things develop.  Thanks mclubber and ntsft.

2. Speaking of accreditation, rumors are swirling that the economic development department is creating business-like programs left and right, causing a serious accred issue in the CBED.  Apparently, KM does what he pleases, and right now it's signing up students for business courses offered through his department.  Thanks envelope and compaq.

3. Stories are gaining legs that retired USM faculty in and around the 'burg are being contacted daily by admins at USM about teaching positions.  Many are refusing to "help out," while others are driving "hard bargains."  Thanks grapevine.

4. Rumors are beginning take hold that national accred agencies (and the NCAA) are all receiving anonymous "what to look for" tips about USM, many from outside constituencies (some affiliated with other universities) and people in central admin ().  Thanks insider and gorod.

5. It is being reported to us that, given the weakened condition of many players in the dome, CEM will soon begin to mount a challenge to LSM over influence in dome affairs.  Thanks domer.
