No insider knowledge here, but I'd be shocked if Hudson is tapped to head UT-PA. Five of the seven final candidates are of Hispanic heritage, and most of them have, arguably, more impressive vitas than TH. The UT regents, according to the "word on the street" here in Austin, will choose a Hispanic president to head the UT system's only predominantly Hispanic comprehensive university.

While on the subject of the University of Texas-Pan American, I should mention that they're also advertising for an HR Manager. Perhaps one of you Hattiesburg residents should make Mark Dvorak aware of this opening. This might be an opportunity for Hudson and MD to join forces and offer UT-PA a package deal. Who knows, they may need a glib, experienced Risk Manager too.

Regents to Meet in Austin on June 21

The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System will hold a special called meeting of the board beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21.

The regents will meet to interview the finalists for the presidency of UT Pan American. The interviews will take place in executive session, but any vote will be taken in public after the interviews at approximately 6:45 p.m. Shortly following the vote, the new president, along with UT System officials, will be available to answer reporters' questions.

Reporters wishing to listen to the open session portion of the meeting may do so in person on the 9th floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7th Street in Austin.

Parking for the news media will be available at the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 7th and 6th Streets.

While I'm touched by your kind offer, I won't be able to spring for the air fare. But, you could certainly house sit and help yourself to my Austin music collection. The Drag is still worth your time, but sadly, 6th Street has become a combat zone, worse than Bourbon Steet. We natives avoid it at all costs.
