MSU: Time to salute and move on...

...I also intend to support IHL Commissioner Tom Meredith in his mission, but not blindly so. I intend to do everything ethically possible to hold his feet to the fire when the next presidential search unfolds at USM and eventually at Ole Miss — and to continue to call for open, above-board search processes at all state institutions.

There are no surprises for folks in Hattiesburg and later in Oxford. Meredith will attempt to make this secretive, back room hiring process used at State the model for the future. As in Starkville, he will attempt to make on-campus input into the search minimal and manipulated.

As in Starkville, it may not matter what the next "advisory committee" has to say. But it won't [be] because we're not reporting on it and bringing it to the public's attention in this newspaper's print and online editions.
