May 2008. How convenient! After all the damage that did. This is a travesty of justice. Tiny Thames ought to have to take his medicine from his high position in the order of things and for his role in ousting Fleming, which Pickering was involved in with these cronies he is now suing.
I don't know anything about the merits of this suit but I do know this countries legal system stinks. Lawyers keep the meter running. I've heard that Chaze charges upfront money and contigencies. The defense attorneys bill and bill and bill. Thank God we've got a good medical system or we'd all be in our grave.

Actually, our medical system is far from the top among nations, except for money spent, on most indices.

When you have an incidence of 65% illegitimate births in some sectors,it's hard to have a good infant mortality rate.

That is why we have many U.S. citizens going to other countries for their health care. It is disgusting that the state of Mississippi has more MRI units that the country of Canada. I know that I am going to Mexico next time that I have medical problem. It is so bad here the illegal immigrants (criminals) are sneaking back across the border to see a doctor.

I would imagine many more people come into our country for medical care than go out. Heart surgery, eye surgery and others are booming in the US thanks in part to our Canadian neighbors. If you feel you would receive better care in Mexico,I urge you to go.It is a good bit cheaper. As for the illegal imigrants (criminals),the US taxpayers should not have to pay for their care. It's bad enough footing the bill for Medicaid babies.

I know you were trying to be a bit sardinic in your post, but many US citizens are sneaking across the Mexican border to purchase their prescriptions and for surgical procedures (though this is admittedly risky for the under- or non-insured). Stop waving the flag for a moment, and do a Google search on medical outcomes and see where we stand in the world. We are up there, but not at the top. Number of MRI machines in a state does not equal good quality per cost. And where did you get the stat (I assume it is per capita, else it is meaningless) that MS has more MRI magnets in use than Canada? I have many, many Canadian colleagues, and not a one (even those who spent time working in the States) believes that the US system is better overall. Do you have data (beyond some Canadians coming to the states for some specialized treatments), that our system is superior and more cost effective?

Here again with all due respect, the poor statistics are not due to our system. We have a large number of illegitimate births and teen pregnancies. These contribute to poor infant mortality. Birth control is readily available at all health departments free of charge with no questions asked. Personal responsibility is sadly lacking in one segment of our society. No one from the government or the health care industry impregnates people;it's all a matter of choice. If we could exchange these folks for some in Scandanavia,Canada, etc.,we'd have excellent statistics.
Perhaps this lecture could be put on another thread titled appropriately. This thread WAS about a lawsuit against USM, and maybe, USM lawsuits in general. This is an all too common practice that is frustrating.
I read in today's paper that the percentage of physicians providing charity care is dropping. Those docs are feeding at the trough and don't want to give a little back to the people.
