1. There are growing rumblings that USM AD Richard Giannini is an immiment departure. Now that the higher-ups' attitude seems to be a win-at-all-costs one, Giannini is (rightly) concerned with his reputation in the field. He came to USM with a good reputation, doesn't want to see it disappear. Stories are circulating that he has been in a few discussions around the country for an AD post. Thanks in-the-know.
2. An older story that has taken on life concerns the 2003 reorganization. It seems that the deans searches were so rushed that, in the case of at least one college, none of the applicants' references were ever contacted (via phone or any other way).
3. It is being said that Rachel Quinlivan was on campus today, possibly working on a new story. Thanks grapevine.
4. Word seems to be spreading that the Kentucky mafia is not welcome back in the great Commonwealth. This may explain their continuing efforts to make a go of it in Hattiesburg. Thanks insider.
5. Tales that Kim Chaze plans to re-open his H'burg office seem to be growing. Kim, as you know, has made a living off of USM's mismanagement. This tale seems to make sense. Thanks gorod.
Kim Chaze has never closed his Hattiesburg office - he commutes between New Hampshire and here. I doubt that he will return to live with all of the self-righteous bible-thumpers of South Mississippi when he can fly in for a few days at a time and continue to milk USM dry.

This is quibbling over semantics. What does "closed" mean?
I think Kim shares office space and secretarial help with at least one other attorney. The front door is open 8-5, Mon-Fri. He continues to handle cases in Mississippi that have not yet been concluded. He ain't here much.
There's way too much emotional content in "self righteous bible-thumpers" and "continue to milk USM dry" for me to deal with. Tell it to your chaplain.
