IN THE DARK

The taxpayers who support this public university are being kept in the dark and jerked around in the College Board's secret selection process of a candidate to replace retiring President Charles Lee.


The search for a new president for Mississippi State University appears to be similar to a sad version of Blind Man's Bluff - or is it Pin The Tail on the Donkey?

News leaked last week that two contenders were in the running only adds to the confusion engendered by the state College Board's mishandling of the search by keeping all discussions secret....

...The board should quit this game and open it up, now.

Forget about conspiracies. As long as the board acts like this--and as long as appointments like Klumb are made (granted, he's the worst)--none of the state universities have a chance.
