1. Rumors are circulating indicating that the men's basketball program is already operating outside of NCAA regulations. Look for more on this later. Thanks grapevine.
2. There is a story making the rounds alleging that, years ago, SFT had grade-records/transcripts officials at USM change his son's grade in a english class (from a C to either an A or a B) in an effort to get him admitted to med school. The grade change was made, without the prof's knowledge, but to no avail. The son did not get in med school anyway. The irony of the story is that the prof is supposed to have been none other than Gary Stringer. Thanks insider and grapevine.
3. Reports have it that USM is now an open admissions university, though not by written policy (just spoken and active policy). For details for what this means, I'm told we should check out the Univ. of Southeast Louisiana for a nearby example. Thanks insider.
4. A story is circulating that JH got "cleaned up" (by the professionals) after his ouster. The irony here is that he is author of the "policy." Thanks in-the-know.
5. There are rumors swirling about some "surprise" resginations in the offing. Look for these in the near future I suppose. Thanks vom.

What does this mean, exactly? Who are the 'professionals?'

I wouldn't be posting this comment to any other thread than the "daily rumor mill", but since you asked...A well placed friend in Hattiesburg told me last weekend that it had been strongly suggested, following the IHL meeting, that the Risk Manager and PR Director avail themselves of the services of certain rehab professionals. I assumed this was in reference to that demon rum.
This is something that should be easily verifiable. If the grade on the registrar's records isn't what the professor turned in...wouldn't this be grounds for immediate termination???
And if true...how could a person who did this for purely selfish reasons possibly accuse anyone else of any unethical behavior????

Highly unlikely. Go check the list of major contributors to the new field house.
"Money doesn't talk, it swears, Obscenity, who really cares, Propaganda all is phony."
Couldn't the prof who gave the grade check the registrar's record and make sure it was the grade he/she gave? If not, ask why?

Former prof M. Whiting has secured a book deal with a major publication firm for "her story" in the SFT debacle if she isn't given the ole' gag order. Heard a film production company is interested in it too. Now, wouldn't that be exposure on a national/international level? I know that Whiting's spirits have picked up a bit, and she gives a lot of credit to the ongoing conversations on the Fire Shelby and AAUP websites. She has a lot of insider info to reveal - hope we get to hear it in September.

Oh, I simply cannot resist. Let's cast the movie! Who is going to play Shelby? Angie? Hanbury? Frank and Gary? Myron Henry?

Frank and Gary will be played by Sean Connery and Harrison Ford of course. That's only because Randolph Scott and Gary Cooper are dead. F & G will get to duke it out over who is played by whom.

Shelby will be played by the guy who plays Mini-Me in the Austin Powers movies.
Angie will be played by Linda Blair, known for her roles as the head-spinning, possessed Regan in The Exorcist (surely Ms. Blair can add fist-clinching and eye-reddening to her repertoire).
The REALLY big question is who will play Judge Cooley, his RM, and the RM's associate. I picture the associate in a fedora with dark glasses and a pinkie ring. Of course, my pick for the Judge would be Pierce Brosnan. The gentlemen among us can cast the Judge's blond tennis-playing political refugee wife. Just not Julia Roberts, please.

Crossing from rumor to fact...I heard about that on the radio a few weeks after Coach Greene resigned. From what I can remember a few boosters paid for a student's summer semester and had someone take an online class for him. They are suppose to be under investigation for this.

Am I psychic or what? Picture on the TV page of the HA this am (Saturday) of Pierce Brosnan receiving an honorary Doctor of Laws. See, he's already preparing!

Actually I think Pierce B. is more likely to to get the part of the Risk Manager's associate.

Yes, but don't forget that Rickman made his name playing ruthless, genteel villains like Die Hard's Hans Gruber ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095016/ ),
