In the past few days I've heard on the radio that Mississippi Public Broadcasting is looking for commentators. I believe the e-mail address they gave is
commentaries@mpbonline.org
(I may have remembered this wrong). In any case, here is additional contact information.
Mississippi Public Broadcasting 3825 Ridgewood Road Jackson, MS 39211
I think the "commentary" on this board is extremely well written. There are eloquent writers (and speakers) here who would make terrific radio commentators. I doubt very seriously that MPB is looking for critiques of USM or Shelby Thames. However, I think there are many people here who could provide user-friendly and even entertaining commentary which could help enlighten people all over the state about the importance of education. Think about it--you could reach thousands of people. Jameela? Present Professor? Anne Wallace? Noel Polk? LVN? Others? Tell what it is like to be a professor or to have had one that changed your life. Tell about your your success with impossible students, your struggles, your surprises, your hard work. Make it real for the people out there who do not understand. C'mon, Andrei C. and Bailey White and Red Barber should not have all the fun (I'm dating myself). You could be next, and you could do much good in the process.
Wow, foot soldier, you put me int the same sentence with Noel Polk, Anne Wallace, et.al. I'm too impressed with myself for words! Seriously, you have a great idea and you are right about some of the heavy intellect on this board. Now, excuse me while I go put an ice pack on my head to take down the swelling.
Well, LVN, it actually sounds like MPB is looking for people like you, rather than than Polks and Wallaces. You know--REAL people--not those hoity toity professors! I mean, um, I assume you're real, yes? Unlike the flower-sending phantom. . .
Actually, if they don't take LVN, I think Noel Polk would be perfect. He's from Mississippi, he can write, and he can be outrageously funny. What more can they ask for?
Well I second Dr. Polk for the job. I don't think I would be a good choice, because I'm not in tune to Mississippi enough, not a native child and all that. He'd be great.
BTW the flowers still look good, but the mystery is making me crazy. I hope somebody confesses someday.

Plenty of Faulkner quotes. And he can deliver that, too.
