1. Summer enrollment 2003 and 2004 are horrendous (compared to Summer 2002). Someone should initiate a FOIA on the count for last year (2003). You'll be amazed. (Did you notice it never got reported in the papers last year?)
2. Thames is truly attempting to oust Jeff Bower. Many athletics supporters are angry, but Krandall Howell and the others Thames listens to want JB gone. Check it out.
3. Law suit was recently filed against Dean Doty (by former CBED staffer). Thanks insider.
4. Fewer and fewer students are reportedly being suspended now from USM (for bad grades). Thanks grapevine.

When I was a director there, we received enrollment reports several times each semester. I think two were preliminary ones as registration was underway and then the final one after the 10th day of classes. We could also access the information through the University computer system, I believe. Department chairs should have that information. Deans receive it for all departments in their colleges; usually departmetn chairs have it just for their units. Council of Chairs would be a good place to look for the information and to see if it is still available through what used to be Office of Institutional Research. I think that was the area Susan Siltanen was over before the funny figures surfaced. I left during the transition to People Soft, so I don't know how the information was distributed following the transition, but this doesn't seem like top secret information.

This could be the one thing that SFT might do that would (a) create enough discontent in the community at large to turn the tide definitely against him & (b) break the "power" that idots like Krandall Howell have over the university.
I'd hate to see Jeff Bower gone. He has a touch of class that is often missing in athletic programs.
On the flip, with Bower gone, the next coach would first use up Bower's recruiting classes (4 years) & then in Hallman-like fashion either move on to an unmitigated disaster or be fired at USM for "failure to produce."
The kind of continuity & longevity that Bower has given to the USM football program is very, very rare in Div. I athletics today. Maybe SFT's savvy advisers want us to be like everybody else, turning over the coaching staff every 3-4 years...

Curious, I believe it is correct to say he left an associate professor position at Syracuse to be dean at USM. There is even some talk about a law suit over promotion that he initiated while he was in a position as assist prof at a school before Syracuse.

How did we get so lucky? (not a rhetorical question)
Texas Eagle is so correct. Doty filed suit against the school he was at prior to NY. The issue was about TENURE!! Doty is Hudson's boy now. Hudson wanted him here to boot Dean G. Hudson gave away the store for Doty!

What is the story about the tenure at the other place?
