Have you been invited to many going away parties in the last three years? I’m getting depressed attending these happy/sad occasions where good friends of 20 years are given a send off to their next position, usually in heaven compared to here. It reminds me of the Jazz Funerals in New Orleans. People are crying to the sad blues on the way to the cemetery and then come to life with the happy dance music as they parade back to the party to celebrate their friends making it to the promise land. I don’t know how many more I can attend unless I’m the one that gets to leave for the promise land.
