People are pouring into the M-Club to watch the last of the Conference Tourney championships and get a good seat for the March Madness selections. People are nervous, but enjoying the good food catered by Sweet Pepper's Deli. Coach Eustachy is signing autographs and showing everyone the model of the $32,000,000 coliseum USM is about to break ground on.

There's no chance of USM getting any kind of postseason tournament bid. If you've watched any of the Selection Sunday shows on CBS or ESPN, you'd know that C-USA is about as weak a conference as there is in the country, and USM is probably the weakest team in C-USA. There will come a day when USM fans will openly admit that their poor decision making caused the downfall of USM basketball. Until then, I'll sit back and enjoy watching teams like UNC-Wilmington, Iona, Albany, Pacific, and Bradley compete in the NCAA Tournament while USM fans are forced to switch to baseball mode. It's sad that I have adopted that attitude, but I've gotten more than a gentle nudge from USM fans like "NCAA Admin".
You are correct -- I do not "root" for USM in any sport. I do hope the student athletes I have taught performs well and get the opportunity to play for good coaches with at least some moral fiber. Your idea that we should somehow all support an athletic program that is run by a person who is willing to bad mouth his own players in the newspaper is laughable. This is a board dedicated to pointing out serious flaws at USM, not a board dedicated to rah-rahing for USM sports with a head in the sand attitude. What's also laughable is the idea that the Eagle Talk contingent will stand by and watch that guy run their program in the ground. Like Nero fiddling while Rome burned.
i agree with better boy, most sports programs at usm are in shambles except baseball and possibly football(depending on your view of some recruits recently and opponents). college sports continue to amaze most of us....terminate a coach with a overall winning record to hire an unproven coach. ole miss comes to mind, football and basketball.
the mens baskeball coach seems to be humbled somewhat that he is no longer degrading his players in the press.
