"It looks bad to have your daughter's numbers like this," she said.
The president cut her off before she finished.
"Oh it does?" Thames said.
OF *COURSE* IT DOES, SHELBY!
"By the way, Dr. [Dana] Thames {the daughter] did not do this in a vacuum," [President Shelby] Thames [the father] said. "Your dean was in this meeting."
AND THE DEAN KNOWS FULL WELL, OF COURSE, WHO HER DADDY IS. IT PRECISELY SITUATIONS LIKE THIS THAT MAKE NEPOTISM SO COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE AND UNATTRACTIVE, EVEN IF ONLY FROM A PR-POINT OF VIEW.
It is intuitive obvious to the casual observer that psychology is being treated badly by the administration. It is one of the more productive units on campus with a history of strong research focus. COB shares this history of research focus. I think that what is happening to psychology is wrong. At this time, however, I cannot focus on that issue since I am still do not know if COB has lost all of its GAs. Psychology cannot fill vacancies and COB loses its GAs. Problems, problems, problems.
Is there a difference between being treated badly and outright retaliation? Is it a coincidence that both Dr. Tammy Greer and Dr. Mitchell Berman are in Psychology?
Well, Mitch...based on the numbers you've provided "insuffienty engaged" does not pertain to research, teaching, or grants/contracts...what else could it be?
If this is true about Dana Thames getting a mid-year raise, it is a big story--especially with the situation in psychology. Surely the raise info is incorrect. I can't believe they would be that foolish.

You can't believe that the man who was shocked that people suspect nepotism when his daughter's department gets 5 new positions at a time that psych can't fill even 1 of 10 vacancies is foolish? Come now.
