Like everyone else, I'm waiting to see if it's true that FG may have retired.  Raises some interesting questions:

If retired, is he still bound by the settlement?  If he's out from under the settlement, he can say anything he wants to, can't he?  Or teach part-time?

If retired, he can teach elsewhere, can't he?

What I am wondering is how he can retire and still receive settlement pay? Rules of Pers retirement will not allow one to receive payment from former state job in excess of 1/2 pay.

Has anyone thought that perhaps it's just a typo?

Yes, that's why I began by saying "waiting to see" -- but you'd think that particular name would have been spotted immediately if a mistake. ????

I AM NOT A LAWYER, but I think that's what the clause in the settlement about "converting from employee to consultant" was about. Either prof could retire or move to another institution & continue to get paid as a "consultant." At least, that's how I read it.

Again, I am NOT a lawyer.

I think Invictus is correct. I recall that when Horace Fleming stepped down, he was retained as a consultant, even though he was living in Bethesda, Md. at the time. It seems this is how the state gets around the issue of severence pay.
