USM has had intermittent email problems for months, but we have had NO email access for several days now. The website where iTech reports problems is not regularly updated and says that email access is available as of Wednesday at 8 am. Not true.
Does anyone know what is going on? We are all very dependent upon email to do our jobs and now we don't even have this very basic tool. What's going on?
You won't believe why the email system had more trouble than is usual yesterday - iTech overloaded the system on purpose to see what would happen - something about showing IBM reps on campus what happens when things like USM Mailout go out and overload the system. Nice, huh?
I know that iTech intentionally trying to overload the email system sounds ridiculous, but that is one way to prove to the equipment techs what happens on campus. At least iTech is working on the email problem.
