A couple of days ago I recieved a curiously worded missive from Mount Olympus inviting me to a reception next Thursday June 4, so that SFT could recognize my service to the university.
I do not feel inclined to accept this kind offer and intend instead to have a libation of some sort upstairs at 206 Front Street instead. I would be happy to hoist glasses with any other retirees or other interested collegues and friends at this time.
Great idea, and I would join you, if I could. I received the same letter and called in a RSVP (will not attend) to Polly. Fortunately for me, I will be in Washington, DC, were I am doing research on a new project at the National Archives. This trip will be paid for completely out of my own pocket. (Did you get that, Angie?) If I were in-state, I would make a point of driving to Hattiesburg to attend that meeting. After all, 206 Front is my favorite watering hole and restaurant.
Hoist one or more for me. If you will identify an appropriate go-between on this message board, I will send a contribution to help pay for the cost of beverages consumed at this special meeting.

With Paracelsus's skills, he ought to be able to whip up the libations from a cheaper substance. Or does alchemy only apply to metals? (I'm in CoAL, obviously.)
