If I can keep all of this CoB stuff straight, the dean is looking, one chair resigns, another chair is looking for another job, several faculty either have accepted jobs, have offers on the table, or are currently on job interviews.
Who is going to teach business classes next fall? Are there enough adjuncts available to fill the gaps?

Doty is about to be Dean of a college the size of a single department at a bigger institution.

Due to his cunning and skill, he cannot manage at all. What a guy.
One thing for sure, the [CoB rentseekers]-to-[total CoB faculty] ratio is growing by leaps and bounds now. The people leaving are all in the denominator, that's for sure.

...that is, they are in the den. but not also in the num.

The unthinkable may have to happen. Doty may have to get near students, and even teach a class or two. Usually he runs away from the sight of students, chalkboards, and classrooms.
Everyone should get a good night's rest tonight. Things will begin anew tomorrow morning. There are still some assistant professors left in the COB. After that, we can get to the associates and fulls. Till tomorrow.

What's the story on the exec assistant leaving the Dean's office? Heard she's "had enough."
It's hard to know where to start or which thread to respond to. It looks as if the problem is contained to economics and tourism management. I am confident the AD will be able to control things now. I hope for the best outcome.
Replacing all of yesterday's resignees will likely cost USM an additional $20,000 per annum, if not more. And, the replacements will not have near the same collective vita as the resgnees.

You need to put in Shelby's point of view like in the polymer threads, ending your costto university with
Hiring alum as new faculty who "see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil" and "a joke in his own department" as a lapdog chair. - Priceless
These people are going to some nice schools. The neat thing is that they didn't have to sue anybody to get these jobs. They are just solid academicians. That's cool.

wrong u idiot
What Grimes will direct Doty to do is to hire good, solid one year contracts, and forget about that arcane tenure for the lazy "bidness" profs. So, they can hire non tenure trackers to teach larger sections, digital, and on line, at a much lower cost.

See? I told you it was part of a strategic human resource management plan. (sarcasm alert)

Uh oh. CoLin Community College better watch out! USM is about to raid its faculty!
I haven't heard if things are corrected. Just one loss today. The Dean left work with the blue flu. The AD is dealing with the dome on replacements. Things will work out better that way.
Doty should just stay at home permanently. His absence would decrease the number of problems in the CoB. His absence alone would increase both the IQ and the mental age of the college.

It's true, and I think by the end of the week. Interviews already ongoing. Here's a pic of the leading candidate leaving campus the yesterday, just outside of Greene Hall). She got a little unlucky running into the media frenzy surrounding all the faculty departures there.

Huh? Are you sure that isn't Angie Dvorak sporting a new do?
D'oh. New shades? A bottle of peroxide? A proper ADP approved black bidness suit? Maybe a little skin tightening around the eyes and neck? Now that I've examined the photo more closely, isn't that Shelby Thames and Cynthia Moore walking up from behind?
