Southern Miss' e-mail system continues to struggle with increasing volumes
of e-mail and SPAM since Hurricane Katrina. To remedy latency issues,
iTech has changed the architecture which brought much needed relief to our
 cache, anti-virus, anti-SPAM and e-mail servers.

However, even with these changes the system continues to experience
latency issues.  We are in contact with industry subject matter experts to
address this issue and provide solutions.  Our objective is to stabilize
the current system as soon as possible. We are also planning for a long
 term permanent solution.

In addition, iTech has contacted several e-mail application vendors to
provide a solution to meet the growing demands for feature rich e-mail
services and mass e-mail delivery.  iTech is working nonstop on this issue
and regrets the inconvenience this is causing.

A daily status of the e-mail system can be found on

Again, thank you for your understanding.

Give Homer a break. He just got carried away typing in the url. Thank goodness this fix doesn't require "industry subject matter experts."  Here is the correct link:

I don't think iTech posted this in the first place. The one iTech sent stated the following and was posted with the correct link.
