Southern Miss' e-mail system continues to struggle with increasing volumes of e-mail and SPAM since Hurricane Katrina. To remedy latency issues, iTech has changed the architecture which brought much needed relief to our cache, anti-virus, anti-SPAM and e-mail servers.
However, even with these changes the system continues to experience latency issues. We are in contact with industry subject matter experts to address this issue and provide solutions. Our objective is to stabilize the current system as soon as possible. We are also planning for a long term permanent solution.
In addition, iTech has contacted several e-mail application vendors to provide a solution to meet the growing demands for feature rich e-mail services and mass e-mail delivery. iTech is working nonstop on this issue and regrets the inconvenience this is causing.
