In the past two weeks, Doty's position in the CoB has become even more tenuous. It's just a matter of time before he gets the axe from the Dean's job, and SFT knows he will need to act quickly to replace Doty with someone more trustworthy and more malleable. There's a real chance that the new CoB Dean will come from Management or Marketing. Several M&M profs have prior administrative experience, and one is currently being groomed for a Dean's job elsewhere -- I am sure that he would gladly accept the USM CoB Dean's job as a stepping stone to another, more suitable position; in fact, he's told me as much. Shelby has a few favorites for the CoB, and it would probably surprise Doty just how many "No Confidence" votes will be thrown by the M&M department. Replacing Doty is a win-win for the CoB, because almost nobody could be as bad on the whole as Doty has been. There is one CoB faculty in particular who could restore order and correct some of the ills that have been caused by Doty's incompetence by working within the administrative framework rather than as some kind of retarded cowboy who never learns from his mistakes. Some senior faculty have already approached this person and have told him to be ready after any changes are made. Te CoB faculty is tired of getting shelled from the Dome, the Community, and its own Dean all over different issues. Hallway discussions have turned to the unified course of action. Based on the CoB handbook, it will not be difficult to call a special faculty meeting.
Early morning word in the COB is that there will be a disappointment for Doty today. Faculty are starting to realize that his power is significantly diminished.
Alvin is the most visible candidate. And the one with the most campus credibility. Niroomand has the desire but not the credibility nor the support. There is another whose identity must be kept safe until the time comes. This person has extensive skills that would benefit the college and finally give the faculty some relief.
I didn't think of that before I posted!! I don't know some of the players well enough to be all that familiar with their backgrounds. But I do remember reading something about firearms on this, or the old Fireshelby, board.
