I don't hate McNelis. I just think she's a bad coach. And she's got man hands.

If you use "pretty good" to describe a team that was ranked #158 by Sagarin this morning, and a team that will most likely rank in the 170s or worse tomorrow morning, what would you call Tennessee's Lady Vols?  "Heavenly?"  "Mythical?"  "Ginormously good?"  "Uberballers?"

Congrats to the Lady Eagles!!!  If you keep up with the team you know this is their best start after six games of conference play since forever ago.

This is their best conference record after 6 games since forever....

However, it is coming in a much weaker C-USA. When the hit-and-run posters are describing East Carolina as "pretty good", then USM's in trouble.

The Ratings Percentage Index, not Sagarin, is all that matters to the NCAA. RPI what is used to seed the NCAA tournament. ECU was #110 in the nation in RPI before the game. Anything in the top 100, or close to it is generally considered to be a good to decent team. Sagarin is generally considered to be a novelty by those who follow basketball very closely, something you pat on the head and go 'oh, isn't that cute' but you don't take it seriously.

Correction: RPI is what is used to seed the NCAA Tournament.

forgot to include a word when I reworked the sentence in the original post.

Sagarin is a lot better than RPI, much more sophisticated and reliable.  While you are correct in that RPI will be looked at by the Selection Committee, than doesn't mean it's a better measuring stick.  Your comments about "novelty" and "cute" is something I've never encountered about Sagarin vis a vis college basketball.
