Notice what these highly regarded (at least moreso than USM) programs are focusing on --- the "managerial skill set" (presentation skills, etc.), more specialization, etc. In particular, a student's presentation skills are difficult if not impossible to gauge in a digital format.
More importantly, how can we have a wine tasting session and a ropes training experience in the digital format? For some unknown reason, I did not see those 2 items mentioned in the retooling article.
Can you also help the poor dears in the MBA program to speak and write in English, to be on time, to wear appropriate clothing, to not have an entitlement mindset, and to try their best?

That would also be due to a lack of courses in law and ethics. There never has been a law class of any kind in the MBA program, and the "ethics" course is taken on the way out the door in the Summer by most MBA students. More and more students seem to have "issues" with what is right and wrong, and many also seem to live in a situational ethics world that is devoid of absolutes. Apparently the other classes of perceived higher value to not help in these areas.
In many ways "we" are not helping our students prepare for careers. Adding another layer of distance to the mix with a digital MBA will not help the students.
But I thought the CoB's mission was "Developing Careers." Are you suggesting that perhaps a real career is bolstered by a strong sense of right and wrong?
Maybe we need to retrain USM administrators. I'll get the jumper cables, you get the battery.

Faculty are being replaced by staff at an alarming rate. Whenever possible the staff are young females with nice forms.
CoB - old guys + young girls = thebestdamnhousepartyintheBurgbaby!

The academic advisers are all paid from what were formerly faculty lines. The new coordinator of alternative learning is being paid with a line that formerly provided tech support to the CoB and instruction to students. Sounds like faculty being replaced by staff to me.
How often do the advisors actually advise compared to sending the students to the academic departments. I hear that there is little success in getting the advisors to learn how to advise. Why were they hired if they don't want to advise? Business students are not happy with the advisement in the college.

Learn to use a computer. Surely you realize by now that all that moola goes into computers in order to enable the faculty to do their own typing and other things previously done by clerks and secretaries. University faculties, here and elsewhere, have been duped and don't realize it.

Yeah, astonished. Type your own manuscripts. It's not like it was in the good old days.
