It looks like SFT's chickens are starting to come home to roost:

The USM football fan base is abuzz with the team's mediocre performance and Thames' promise that 9-2 was the expectation for the year. There are more letters today in the HA that call for Bower's removal. Looks like Thames' words are still resonating with the fans, and more of them are calling for change every day.

The USM basketball fan base is starting to make serious public statements about a "lack of improvement," a "lack of coaching," and the "embarassment" of losing to unknowns by surprising margins. Recall that the good ship Nitchampburg is captained by former coed canoodler Larry Eustachy, who dispatched several James Green recruits because they failed to buy into Eustachy's system. With the fan base firmly split between the "give him time-ers" and the "he's a joke-ers," how long will it be before calls for change will be made in this program as well?

Rumblings about a new bond issue continue to surface, but Giannini stated that he would never again take a bond issue to the voters of Hattiesburg. Have you changed your mind, Mr. G? You have no chance of getting a bond issue through the city voters unless it properly spreads the burden of the tax on those who will enjoy the stadium expansion. Here's a hint: Most USM football fans bring in their own food and beer and tailgate, drive in the day of the game, and go home the day of the game. THEY DO NOT FILL UP HATTIESBURG'S HOTELS, MOTELS, AND RESTAURANTS! Taxing food and lodging is not an option anymore. How about using some of those projected revenues from ticket sales to fund the bond issue? No? Didn't think so. For whom does Giannini work?

Thames' autocratic management style is continuing to show up in his hires. The Deans have continually failed to uphold process and faculty governance under Thames' regime. Apparently, more of th same held up in the B-school this week. Too many threads to suggest that something didn't go awry over that one. Is every dean looking for another job? Are all of them failing as miserable as Pood and Doty seem to be?

Thames' nepotism and cronyism continue to permeate the campus. More and more family members are being hired to fill at-will positions. Speaking of at-will positions, just how long will it be before at-will staffers outnumber terminally qualified faculty members? More paving and lighting projects continue on campus. I think a newly-blacktopped road was getting redone with brick pavers the other day. I should have gone to construction school rather than ag school. Too bad SFT doesn't need home grown 'maters for his outsourced dining system. Maybe some of my home-grown pine trees can be used to make paper for books at the outsourced bookstore? Not necessary? OK.
