What about having ID taught in say a religion class or maybe a philosophy class? Seems more where it belongs and exposing students to the idea itself -- well exposure to ideas is not a bad thing.
It would have to be a Comparative Religion Course where all other 'creation stories' of the thousand other religions could get equal time. But as Third Witch correctly points out they don't presently have religion or philosophy classes in high schools, as far as I know.
I also think parents may object to exposing their children to the very many different religions that would occur in a Comparative Religion Course. It may start their children thinking, especially if they learn that many primitive religions before Christianity had "saviors' born of virgins etc. It was almost a prerequisite to be considered a serious religion.
Can't recall if this website has been posted on this thread. It presents compelling evidence that there might be yet other explanations for the origin of the universe. Oboy--more to teach in school!
With all the predictable faux-flap over "Merry Christmas," did we remember to wish each other a Merry Solstice? After all, without the pagans, we probably wouldn't have all those nice trees and lights.
At least we can now say Happy New Year (well, unless you're Chinese or Jewish, or whatever...)
