Minority faculty and SACS
Permalink Closed

I wondered whether anyone on this board might know whether recruitment and retention of minority faculty members is an explicit criterion by which SACS evaluates the schools it accredits.  My school will soon be applying for re-accreditation, and it would be helpful to know if this a criterion by which SACS-accredited institutions are evaluated.

Thanks for any advice.

AFAIK, there are no explicit SACS criteria related to recruitment of minority faculty members. There are federal regulations regarding EEOC/affirmative action, though, and SACS does require institutions to be in compliance with applicable federal regulations. (Which regs are applicable depends on whether the institution is public or private & whether it's concerned with Title IV eligibility.)

AFAIK, a candidate only qualifies as a minority candidate if they have "minority" status AND have U.S. citizenship. Is this correct?
