One point that Jameela did not make, and that should be made about the original letter, is that the original writer says that Dr. Thames brought 70 million in external funding to USM. That is very misleading, but a common belief outside the university. External funding is driven by grant applications and proposals authored by faculty and staff--(my kudos also to SPA who do a great support job).
