A portal allows members of an organization to have customized private web experiences based on their role within the organization. Our portal will be the private side of our web technologies and services. It will allow each person access to systems internal to the university such as Email, SOAR, SOAR-FIN, etc. Additional features and content sections included within our portal will be based on the feedback we receive from you during development.
No offense to Donella, who is terrific at her job, but does anyone honestly think that after last year that USM employees are going to have "customized PRIVATE web experiences?" Pardon my paranoia, but this looks like just another way to monitor us. The administration clearly has no plans to leave USM employess their privacy.

I'm with you Arnold. After all the email monitoring (monitoring that many think is still going on despite all protestations to the contrary), it would be foolish to buy into this.
By the way, I've heard that the email monitoring was begun when Beneke and Company came but picked up a real head of steam when the faculty began to question Hanbury and Dvorak's drug and alcohol policy.
I would really like to enter the "Name your Portal" contest, but my USM trust index is at an all time low since the Stringer/Glamser debacle. Sorry, but they'll have to do their test run without my participation.
