Have all faculty safely landed into their new roles as far as this semester is concerned? If anyone knows of anyone who hasn't or of anyone who is being taken advantage of by this administration - please post. I won't post rumors, but I'd like to know if our faculty (AND STAFF) are being treated equitably in the wake of this disaster. Rumors do abound.
Settled? No. Hell, no. Someone should look into the situation of the Gulf Park faculty and staff who have lost their homes, clothes, belongings, personal libraries, computers, and more. Many do not have a place to live! Perhaps the national AAUP could help those poor folks! Do you not realize how bad it is for many of those folks???
I noticed a post on USM talk today requesting donations for the coast faculty and staff, including food and clothing. About the same time I read an account of the efforts put forth by some of the coast's other employers, including feeding and finding housing for their employees. We should be able to provide meals and support for those on the coast who are working so hard to enable that campus to reopen. An occasional lunch is not sufficient. Their plight is indeed dire, an order of magnitude worse that those of us slightly to the north.
